In cyberspace, where our
physical bodies are irrelevant, our sense of self is unarticulated.
We refer to our lives online by defining what it is we do there, as
if in the interstices of activity we cease to exist. On the contrary,
these are the moments in which we can be most present: reflecting, thinking,
assessing, but we lack a vehicle for expressing this 'activity of non-doing';
the existence of self within a community. Chant is a way of expressing
our quiet presence in a space without the imposition of activity. Drawing
out a line generates a unique sphere and tone. Any other circles/sound
being projected represent other chanters somewhere in the world. Thanks
to Nancy Lewis for technical assistance.
