Martin Dammann
Rescription, swinging

Interested in what he calls the hidden life (Eigenleben) of pictures, Martin Dammann's work makes structures visible, revealing how form is connected to content. "Rescription, swinging" reconstructs the camera's movements as it panned over a children's playground. According to the movement of the camera at each specific moment, each frame appears in a slightly different position than the picture before it. The edges of each picture, which are not overwritten by the following picture, remain on the screen. The result is an overview of the entire scenario, constantly rewritten by new frames; a hybrid between static and dynamic images. What becomes visible is the images' relationship to one another in space and time.
